A Letter from Founder, Dr Bec Welsh.
To the pet owners of Toowoomba,
After 15 years working as a small animal vet in this town and abroad, I've sat in a lot of exam rooms with a lot of caring families, and I've come to notice a recurring pattern. The appointments that go best for the pet and their carers, are the ones where everyone's a little more relaxed. Often in appointments, your normally calm cat has been rattled by the trip in or wound up by unfamiliar animals in the waiting room. Sometimes, carers are juggling the clock, a carrier and a toddler at the same time.
While the standard of vet care in Toowoomba is of the highest quality and standards, it is no secret that when the pressure of the carrier, the unfamiliar pets and surroundings ease, there's more room for the kind of care I actually trained to give; care built on time, attention, and really understanding what's going on.
That's the honest reason I started Toowoomba Mobile Vet Services.
I also wanted to build something that fits the way people's lives actually work, not the other way around. Every family is managing something, work, kids, other pets, budgets, and I wanted to build a practice that meets people there, with real flexibility, especially when it comes to palliative and end of life care. Those decisions are hard enough without an owner also carrying guilt about what they can or can't afford. I wanted more room in that conversation, not less.
One thing I think is important for people to know upfront: a home visit with me isn't a premium add-on. It's not more expensive than a standard vet appointment. I wanted house calls to genuinely be accessible for everyone because every pet deserves attentive and compassionate care, and every owner deserves the option to choose what actually works for their family and pets, without cost being the thing that rules it out before they've even asked.
That's what I've built here. One vet, real flexibility, and care that comes home.
